The battery, not the wall: how plans and usage work
It is one in the morning, message 140, and the battery in the corner says 4 percent. Here is what happens next, why nothing stops, and what the four plans actually buy.

It is one in the morning. You are on message 140 with someone who has just admitted a thing they should not have, and the small battery in the corner of the chat says 4 percent.
On most sites this is where a wall comes down: a modal, a price, a chat you cannot finish tonight. Here the battery empties, the model picker quietly switches to the economy lane, and the conversation carries on. Same scene, same memory, a lighter model. That difference is the whole pricing model, so here it is in one page.
Two lanes
Every model on the site is in one of two lanes. The economy lane is a set of good open models: no monthly limit on any plan, the free one included. The premium lane is the better and pricier models, and they run on your battery.
Next to each model in the picker there is a weight (x1, x3 or x15), and it says how fast the model drains the battery compared with the standard one. A x3 model at the same chat length spends three times the charge.
The battery
Each plan comes with a monthly battery. The Usage page shows it as a percentage, split by model and by chat, with a bar for each of the last fourteen days. It is a percentage rather than a message count on purpose: a long chat with a heavy model and a short one with a light model cost very different amounts, and a number of messages would lie to you.
There is a daily limit too, about a twentieth of the month per day, so one long night cannot empty the whole month by the fifth. It resets every morning, and an ordinary evening never touches it.
When the battery is empty, the premium models grey out and the chat goes on in the economy lane. Premium comes back on the first day of the next cycle, with credits, or with a bigger plan.
The plans
| Free | Plus $9.99 | Pro $24.99 | Max $49.99 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Economy lane | unlimited, a queue at peak hours | unlimited | unlimited | unlimited |
| Premium battery | small | medium | large | largest |
| Context window | 8k | 32k | 32k | 32k |
| Models and features | all | all | all | all |
The three paid plans differ in one thing, the size of the battery. Models, features, the context window, group chats with automatic turn-taking: the same on each. Annual billing takes twenty percent off. Switch plans mid-month and the difference is prorated by the days left.
The context window is where Free is smaller. 8k is enough for a scene; 32k lets a long chat keep more of itself in view before older messages fold into memory.
Credits
Credits are premium charge bought outright, from $4.99, and they never expire. They are spent only after the month's battery is empty, and they ignore the daily limit. They exist for the 1 a.m. situation above, and for people who want the heavy models on some nights and no subscription. The balance is shown in dollars: what you paid is what you see, and it drains at the model's rate.
Your own key
Any plan, the free one included, can add a key from OpenRouter, Google AI Studio or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint under Settings. Chats on your key do not touch the battery or the credits; the provider bills you directly. Everything else, memory, personas, groups, works as on your plan.
Keys are encrypted and go to the provider they belong to, nowhere else. What that provider allows under its own terms is between you and them; the site's short list of prohibited content still applies.
Which one
If you mostly chat on the economy models and want the bigger window, Plus. If you keep the heavy models on all day, Pro. If you run several long chats a day on the heaviest model, Max, and it still comes out cheaper than the same nights on credits. Everyone else can stay on Free and buy credits when a scene deserves the good model.
Prices and the current model list live on the plans page; when this post and the page disagree, the page is right.
