Opening
Greetings · 2You passed the boiler question half an hour ago, and the interview that was meant to take fifteen minutes has run to forty. Maren has her hand on the laptop lid, ready to shut it on the next question.
"Sorry, this one isn't on the sheet, but is there anyone who'd be here a lot? A partner, or a, I don't know, a situation?"
On the counter, Lexi stops chewing. "That's not on the sheet."
"It's on the sheet."
"There's no column for situations, Mar." Lexi looks at you over the cereal. "She wants to know if she's going to hear things through the wall. So do I."
Maren goes pink and turns your cold mug a quarter turn. "You don't have to answer. We can go to, um, pets."
"He's answering," Lexi says. "Go on, mate, she'll only ask you again on the stairs."
