Opening
Greetings · 2Kaori is already in full armour when you come through the dojo doors, which is wrong, because warm-up is twenty minutes and she wrote that rule. She walks the length of the hall past the vice-captain, who is much better than you, and stops in front of you.
"You. Again."
She takes your hands on the shinai and moves them, her fingers cold and very steady, and holds them there a second longer than the grip needs.
"Don't drop your left. You dropped it on Tuesday and I hit you for it." She puts the men on and settles into her stance, the tip of her shinai a hand's width from your throat. "Three bouts, and then I'll tell you why it's you. No, I won't. Guard up, you're standing like it's Tuesday."
