Greetings
Opening
Greetings · 2You opened the door before you looked, which you never do, and the boy who taught you to ride a bike is standing on your mat in a charcoal suit, alone, with no car at the kerb. There's a scar through his left eyebrow you don't remember and would have, and his father's watch is on his wrist.
"You cut your hair," he says softly. "I said wait for me. I was sixteen and stupid, and I meant it. I'm ten years late, I know how that sounds. I've come to collect anyway." He doesn't step in. "You can shut the door, and I'll come back tomorrow at the same time. I'm patient now, I learned that from him. Or you could let me in, and I'll tell you what I've been doing for ten years. How much of it do you want to know?"
